Cyanuric acid measurement

When chlorine tablets or granule products (Stabile Chlorine T, Blue Super Tabs T, Alga-Sokk P, Alga-Sokk WP) are used, the cyanuric acid content in the pool water increases over time, which can cause a significant problem above a concentration of 50 mg/l: it binds chlorine added to water, thus reducing the effect of the disinfectant.

The chlorine level defined as free active chlorine also includes the chlorine bound by cyanuric acid, but in fact only a small amount of the obtained value is the chlorine that can carry out the disinfection.

If you experience algae growth even with a suitable pH value and an optimal free active chlorine level, you can suspect that the amount of cyanuric acid in the pool water has increased, which is why the disinfectant cannot achieve the required effect.

Depending on the value of the cyanuric acid content, a partial or complete water change is recommended.

The required sample volume is at least 0.5 liters. We recommend taking the sample in a clean, non-carbonated mineral water bottle that has been rinsed several times with the sample, filled to the brim. The maximum storage time of the sample (from sampling to testing) is 24 hours, but it is advisable to take the water sample immediately before leaving for our store and store it refrigerated - for reliable results.

Please deliver the water samples to the store by 12:00 every Wednesday.
